I'm much more attractive online.
You were expecting someone svelte and cutsie behind all this insight and wit? Perish THAT thought!

Well, the svelte part, anyway.

From politics (moderates who lean to the right) to Pogo (drools during poker stare) to rants (Whatcha expect from savvy, sassy sexagenarians?) to raves (Have you had your kudo today?) -- we never take ourselves too seriously.

We do, however, reserve the right to slaughter an occasional sacred cow. And in case we fail to mention it -- we will never forget....

The Cost of Amnesty

The White House and it's coalition barginers have seriously underestimated the cost of accommodating (i.e., granting amnesty) to our current level of illegal immigrants.

How much?  Trillions.  Trillions of dollars.

Read it and weep.  But call or fax your Senator for free NOW.

The Senate Sell-Out

How can a coalition of "grand bargainers" under the leadership of two of the most questionably unstable members of the Senate -- meeting in seclusion beyond their counter-parts, constituents and Constitutional due process -- be so out of tune with American sentiment?

It was easy.

Our legislative process and the guardians of our very survival were manipulated by self-serving elitists who sold out to corporate-moguls and capitalists -- placing themselves above our Constitution and the welfare of  this nation.

No matter that millions of Americans called, wrote letters, sent emails, faxed or responded to polls expressing opposition to the pending McCain-Kennedy coalition for immigration reform.  The deal was already "cut" -- sans public awareness and political process -- by corporate lobbyists, Presidential favor and special interest funding.

And when the McCain-Kennedy Senate coalition could not openly ignore the rules of legislative procedure -- they were supported by the likes of Harry Reid in circumventing them.

Voters must remember the Senators who conspired in the shadows (albeit, in the name of those who supposedly live there) to orchestrate -- not only a facade of bipartisanship -- but the demise of our nation as we know and love it.

If we must rely on the leadership of our Senate, America needn't worry about the threat of jihad or securing our borders and ports.

When our government allowed a coalition to secretly construct a law  designed to meet the greeds needs of corporate America, the proverbial jihad sword was raised by our own elected custodians.

When 64 members of the Senate voted to "consider" this reform, that proverbial sword fell ....

Remember these names.  There are 64.  During the upcoming debate, up to 4 will have the opportunity to "reconsider" their vote.  It's the game they play, you see.  They'll offer some idealistic bullshit excuse for voting "aye" to consider the bill -- relishing all the while whatever favor they copped in the process.  Hold them accountable for this legislative travesty:

Akaka (D-HI)
Bennett (R-UT)
Biden (D-DE)
Bingaman (D-NM)
Bond (R-MO)

Brown (D-OH)

Stevens (R-AK)
Voinovich (R-OH)
Warner (R-VA)
Webb (D-VA)

And pray that, even If our sell-out Senators can't hear us, the "House" of the people will.

Live-Blogging the Amnesty Shamnesty

Senators are now voting to move forward with consideration of the Immigration Bill via amendments to Bill 1639.

12:30:  roll call continues .... Lots of ayes.

While Senators stroll around the floor -- I'm wondering if any of them are going to offer an amendment suggested by Cliff Thier:

It occurred to me that there might be a very short and very simple amendment that would ensure the support of a majority of the citizens of the United States for the immigration bill. John McCain ought to be demanding space be found in the bill's 600+ pages for this single sentence:

"Every citizen of the United States shall be entitled to the same treatment for taxation liability as this bill provides for individuals who have entered the United States illegally."

This would mean that we will all be exempt from taxation for the same number of years (all) that illegal aliens would be exempt from taxation. Since illegal immigrants won't have to pay taxes for the years that they have worked in the United States, legal citizens should similarly be entitled to that benefit.

Surely there breathes a Senator who will fight for the rights of citizens to be treated equally with individuals who have broken the law. Who could vote against this?

I can't wait to get my refund.

Nor can I, Mr. Thier.  But neither of us should hold our breath.  Better yet, bring out the oxygen tanks.  The Senate vote was 64-35 to consider the bill.

Unions to Form Without Worker Approval?

The Senate is now voting ..... The Bill is HR 800 Union Organizing and Membership.

Will the Senate allow unions to take precedence over worker rights --- displacing a 60-year old system in which workers were given the right to determine by secret ballot whether they WANTED to unionize?

At issue is whether labor unions will, in essence, have a free hand in forcing the American worker to support and contribute to a union agenda.

How much money is organized labor willing to pay for this vote and how vulnerable are Senators to selling their votes?

The motion to proceed on Bill HR 800 fails.  But not by much.

Immigration Cloture Vote Tomorrow --
Here's the latest I [Kirkorian]have, from Numbers USA. Since Tuesday's cloture motion (to bring the amnesty back up for debate) needs 60 votes to succeed, .... 41 senators either have to vote No or just be absent. There are 32 pretty solid No votes ...

The solid No votes on cloture are Alexander (R-Tenn.), Allard (R-Colo.), Baucus (D-Mont.), Byrd (D-W.Va.), Bunning (R-Ky.), Chambliss (R-Ga.), Coburn (R-Okla.), Corker (R-Tenn.), Cornyn (R-Texas), Crapo (R-Idaho), DeMint (R-S.C.), Dole (R-N.C.), Dorgan (D-N.D.), Enzi (R-Wyo.), Grassley (R-Iowa), Hutchison (R-Texas), Inhofe (R-Okla.), Isakson (R-Ga.), Landrieu (D-La.), McCaskill (D-Mo.), Pryor (D-Ark.), Roberts (R-Kan.), Rockefeller (D-W.Va.), Sanders (I-Vt.), Sessions (R-Ala.), Shelby (R-Ala.), Smith (R-Ore.), Stabenow (D-Mich.), Sununu (R-N.H.), Tester (D-Mont.), Thune (R-S.D.), Vitter (R-La.).

That leaves eight votes to get to 41.

The following 12 senators are leaning against the bill itself but so far are leaning toward the cloture motion — which means, in reality, that they would be helping pass the amnesty, because if the bill comes to a final vote, it will pass. These are the Senators whose decisions will likely determine whether the amnesty passes or not: Bond (R-Mo.), Bingaman (D-N.M.), Burr (R-N.C.), Boxer (D-Calif.), Cochran (R-Miss.), Conrad (D-N.D.), Ensign (R-Nev.), Levin (D-Mich.), Gregg (R-N.H.), Nelson (D-Neb.), Hatch (R-Utah), Webb (D-Va.).

CALL THESE SENATORS.  Ask them to vote NO on the cloture vote.

We're Wit' Mitt!

optional image -- save to your own computer, please!

Most of the Mitt Romney "blog rolls" I've seen are "focus" blogs -- that is, focused specifically on the Mitt Romney campaign.

Which is good, btw.  Very good.

But we're starting a "generic" blog roll of bloggers who SUPPORT Mitt Romney, yet also blog on general topics.

Wanna join?  Wanna have direct access to other bloggers who support Mitt Romney?  General blogs will be prefaced by **.  (The other links will be to articles about Mitt's campaign.)

Leave a comment below (including your URL and blog name.)  You'll be added to the roll.

You don't have to link back here or anything like that .... Just paste the SCRIPT for the roll in your sidebar (beneath an appropriate image or text label supportive of Mitt Romney's campaign for the Presidency).

Script:  [<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://rpc.blogrolling.com/display.php?r=7ee704348d75bf62f4ec33f601a29450"></script>]

Remove the red brackets to activate script!!

I'll visit your site regularly.  If there is anything offensive or disrespectful  -- I'll remove your link from the blogroll.  Fair?

Congress Approval at 14%

This is the lowest rating of an institution in the history of Gallup polling.

What's the probability that members of congress were included in the sampling?

How Our Gov. Fixes Messes --

Such as Illegal Immigration:

Pass a law granting amnesty to all illegals and create a celebratory bonfire with the backlog of applications, FBI search requests, security reports, etc. to celebrate the travesty and injustice to Americans.

MM has the facts being covered by the farce.

CALL YOUR CONGRESSMEN!!!   (See previous two posts.)

Say, NO! to Amnesty.
